First Port City Bank is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Unger as Vice President & SBA Business Development Officer. In this role, Unger will support the bank’s continued growth in commercial lending and small business financing, with a focus on SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs.
Unger brings a distinguished banking career spanning more than two decades, specializing in SBA, commercial real estate, construction, and C&I lending. Throughout his career, he has originated and managed large commercial loan portfolios, structured complex financing packages, and guided entrepreneurs through every stage of the lending process — from initial consultation to closing.
Most recently, Unger served as Vice President and SBA/Commercial Lender at Bay First Financial in Phoenix, Arizona, where he sourced more than $30 million in new SBA 7(a) opportunities in just four months. His background also includes lending leadership roles with First Bank of the Lake, Arizona Financial Credit Union, Stearns Bank NA, and Citywide Banks. In addition to his banking expertise, Unger spent several years as a mortgage loan consultant and operated a private real estate investment company, further expanding his hands-on knowledge of business development and commercial construction.
“Kevin brings a deep understanding of SBA lending and a strong commitment to helping small businesses grow,” said John McClure, SVP & Government Guarantee Lending Division Managing Director. “His knowledge, experience, and customer-focused approach make him a tremendous asset to our lending team and the communities we serve.”
Unger holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Northern Colorado and has previously held NMLS and insurance licensing in both Arizona and Colorado. He has been recognized as a consistently top-producing lender, known for his ability to develop strong client relationships and deliver financing solutions tailored to business goals.
As part of First Port City Bank’s commercial lending division, Unger will work closely with business owners, commercial brokers, and referral partners to expand access to capital for startups, growing firms, and companies investing in real estate, equipment, working capital, and expansion projects.
“We are excited to welcome Kevin to the First Port City Bank family,” said Scott Ewing – President & CEO. “His expertise aligns perfectly with our mission of putting people first and supporting the economic growth of the markets we serve.”
